In 2018 Camilla founded BECO, a social enterprise that makes environmentally-friendly toiletries with an 80% disabled or disadvantaged workforce. BECO encourages businesses and consumers to switch their soap for social good and in turn improve the opportunities for people with disabilities across the UK. Camilla is currently Head of Sustainable Growth for the wider charity CLARITY & Co, one of the UK’s foremost social enterprises, whose purpose is to enhance the lives of people with disabilities or long-term health conditions through meaningful employment.
Camilla was instrumental in developing #StealOurStaff, a highly provocative campaign created in partnership with TBWALondon which invites businesses to steal BECO’s staff and help close the UK’s disability employment gap. With a media spend of only £3,000, the campaign received 24 million impressions in week one alone, a 966% increase in Twitter followers and retweets from Deborah Meaden, world-famous influencer Niomi Smart, Channel 4 and even Richard Branson. The campaign also garnered great coverage in The Guardian, The Times, Daily Mail, Stylist and Evening Standard, catapulting BECO’s core brand truth into the national agenda.
Camilla is keen to help replicate equitable and sustainable business models globally and has begun sharing the good news of CLARITY & Co internationally, representing the British Council in Latvia and as a keynote speaker at Social Impact Day Noord in The Netherlands, as well as speaking at events for LV=, Coca-Cola EP, General Assembly, forpeople, The Founders Network, OnPurpose and International Women's Day. Next up is Zurich and Barcelona in Autumn 2019!
