Within GroupM and WPP, Derin has had a massive influence in shaping inclusivity and belonging as Learning and Development Advisor, and beyond.
Derin is responsible for designing and delivering a suite of inclusion workshops, such as Conscious Inclusion, Conscious Hiring and Allyship, which empowers our employees, equips them with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to become the market leaders for inclusivity in both our workplace and the work we deliver.
The Allyship workshop, which was designed and rolled out in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement, has been delivered to almost 2000 employees across GroupM and WPP this year, by Derin and the GroupM University team. This has been a vital part of fulfilling WPP’s commitment to anti-racism.
Outside of her role, Derin is the vice chair of the new GroupM’s Roots employee resource group, created in the last few months, which acts as the representatives of ethnic and cultural diversity at GroupM, voicing the views of that community and shaping policy, recruitment practices and culture change.
Not only has Derin’s influence been felt strongly within GroupM and WPP, but also across the Media and Advertising industry, as Derin has delivered a version of the Allyship workshop at conferences such as Mindshare’s Huddle 2020, and an engaging Microaggressions workshop at Bloom’s annual BloomFest event, which was a highlight for many and left attendees feeling empowered.
All this has been achieved within Derin’s first year of being at GroupM.
