A recipient of Campaign Magazine’s Female Frontiers 2021 award, Clarissa is a multi-award-winning Content and Marketing leader who started her career in 2012 after graduating from Oxford University. She has since worked at Penguin, Bonnier Books and tech podcast company Acast.
Over her 7 year career working in marketing in publishing, she created countless bestsellers in audio, physical and digital formats for the likes of: Dan and Phil, dodie, Sheryl Sandberg, George The Poet, Lily Allen, Adam Grant, Andy Weir and more.
Her highlights include developing a book branded photo-sharing app that trended above the 2016 Olympic opening ceremony and pioneering the first influencer and audiobook marketing campaigns at Penguin, which involved creating the first binaural audiobook trailer listened to 4.5 million times on YouTube - resulting in the fastest selling audiobook since records began in 2015.
From 2017 - 19, whilst working in publishing by day, by night she became the Executive Producer and Brand Manager of books podcast Mostly Lit producing interviews with authors such as Booker winner Arundhati Roy through to Sir Lenny Henry. She also worked on the first podcast residency at The Times and Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival and a year-long marketing partnership with Waterstones.
At Acast she has developed some of the world’s most-listened to podcasts bringing millions of new listens to the industry.
In addition to signing and growing the audiences of no.1 podcasts like The Guilty Feminist and Happy Place and launching global hits The Missing Crypto-Queen, she has expertise in developing and growing audiences of new podcasts such as growing up with gal-dem, Reality Check with Amber, Anna and Yewande, The Polyester Podcast and Talking Politics History Of Ideas. She has built partnerships with podcast platforms from Apple to Amazon Music Podcasts to promote podcasts in new ways.
Clarissa sits on the advisory boards for Creative Access and Cheltenham. She runs her own studio developing, producing, and marketing content such as Patricia Bright’s no.1 business podcast Caught Off Guard.
